Lawrence County Judge Executive and Fiscal Court statement on Governor Andy Beshear’s announcement of Century Aluminum Company’s intent to build in Northeast Kentucky

Lawrence County Judge Executive Phillip Carter wants to extend his thanks to Governor Andy Beshear for all his efforts, hard work and time invested in bringing economic growth to Northeast Kentucky. Gov. Andy Beshear’s announcement of Century Aluminum Company’s plan to build the first of its kind green aluminum smelter plant in Northeast Kentucky is the biggest economic announcement this region has seen.

With the potential for 5,500 construction jobs paying six figures, every County in the region will reap the benefits. The people of this region have been hoping for an announcement of this magnitude for years and now with Gov. Beshear’s arduous work along with the Department of Energy granting five hundred million dollars to the Century Aluminum Company project, it is coming to fruition.

Again, the Lawrence County Judge Executive would like to thank Gov. Beshear for his commitment to the Commonwealth and our region and the Senior Advisor to the Governor, Rocky Adkins, for always having our back.
